The Journey To The Blue Eye
The Journey begins as you travel through the town of Saranda and learn its history. When we visited (2008) there were many buildings under construction. The view soon changes though once you leave the town and head inland where you are faced with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
You slowly wind inland passing by small villages, some still under construction. The journey towards the mountains to where the Blue Eye Spring lies takes around an hour but make sure you have your camera to hand to capture some of the stunning scenery.
You know you're getting close when you reach a lake, which is a source from the Blue Eye Spring. After the lake you travel through the woodlands on a small bumpy road. There are a few hairy moments when the coach looks as though it's going to plough straight into a tree or tip over the edge but that's all part of the fun.
After the short woodlands drive you arrive at the Blue Eye Spring. You enter by talking past a number of small eating areas, one of which by a fast flowing river which is another current source coming from the base of the surrounding mountains.
