Welcome to my "A DAY IN ALBANIA" site.

In June 2008 my girlfriend and me booked a day trip to Albania whilst we were on holiday in Corfu. We didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a fantastic day! (even if the weather wasn't at its best).

We booked the excursion via NSK Travel in Sidari (they also have an office in Roda) and in total the trip cost around 34 Euros each inc. tax to enter the country and money for the local guide. This site is based on the trip to the Blue Eye Spring (there is an alternative, an excavation site in Brutrinti) .

Albania is a country on the rise, its still relatively poor compared to its bordering countries buts its a beautiful place with fantastic views and friendly people. With it being just 2 miles away from Corfu its well worth spending that money and enjoying your day!

The day starts early with a pickup between 7 and 8am before the hour long journey to Corfu town port. The crossing is by hydrofoll and it takes only half an hour to reach the Albania town of Saranda. Unfortunately on the day of our excursion we had to travel via a small boat so it took us an hour and a half but it didn't ruin the experience.

Once you dock at Saranda the local tour guide meets you. From there you drive through the town to a small cafe where you can have a drink before the Journey towards the Blue Eye Spring....
